The hit list was discovered after the snake was slit open after being killed in the office of the Mezam Divisional Head of Surveys.

The drama is still on on most lips in metropolitan Bamenda. The story emerged from the office of the Mezam Divisional Service Head for Surveys, Kah Charles, who on Monday, August 31, 2015, reportedly informed those who cared to listen that he suspected the presence of a snake in his office. Then came Tuesday, September 1, 2015, when as early as about 7 am, he discovered a python in the drawer of his office cupboard.

With the help of a brother who was called in from Menchum Division in the North West Region, they succeeded in killing the snake after stiff resistance. Upon opening up the whole length of the python with a knife, a list of six workers from the office was discovered. According to the message on the piece of paper, the people on the list are supposed to die because of their alleged closeness or association with Kah Charles. They are Kah Charles himself, Mbah George who died and was buried last week, Gabila Dirine, Lambi Benjamin, Pascal and Peter.

The mysterious snake was later burnt after Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique and the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Felix Nguele Nguele, visited the scene. As at press time, the Mezam Divisional Delegate for State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Sah Emmanuel, gave assurances that calm had returned to the office. However, rumour is rife in Bamenda on the alleged in-house struggle for positions in the Mezam Divisional Delegation for State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure. Prior to Tuesday’s killing of the python, Kah Charles is said to have been complaining about premonitions on being haunted since he took office a few months ago.
