Commonwealth Business Forum: Business People To Massively Participate

Delegates are expected to develop stronger partnerships between governments and businesses and to promote investments in member States.

Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, Minister Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, chaired a meeting of business people at the Douala Sawa Hotel September 3, 2015 in prelude to the Commonwealth Business Forum, CBF, to take place in Malta, Europe, on the 24th-26th of November 2015. The business forum, which will bring together over 1,200 delegates from member countries, will hold on the theme, “Adding global value - creating a more prosperous Commonwealth”.

The launch of the CBF in Douala had the dual purpose; to sensitise business people on the importance of the Forum as well as encourage them to massively participate. The Minister Delegate alluded to the growing enthusiasm and the massive participation of Cameroonian investors in the Forum, saying that government has and continues to support delegates to attend the Forum. He recalled the benefits Cameroon has made from its past participations, especially in the sectors of mines and agriculture. The CBF will feature as a part of the CHOGM programme that holds in Malta on November 27-29, 2015. The business forum is the major business event in the Commonwealth calendar, bringing together Heads of Government, Ministers and top business leaders from around the world.

In her address during the launch, Marthe Leonie Bwemba Toulou, Honorary Consul General of Malta in Douala, underscored the aim: “To develop stronger partnerships between governments and business to ensure that the Commonwealth plays its part in promoting sustainable growth across the world.” The CBF 2015 is being co-organised by the Commonwealth Economic and Investment Council (CWEIC) and the government of Malta and is designed to provide a space for high level dialogue between business and Government leaders from the Commonwealth and beyond.

Christophe Eken, President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts pledged the massive participation of the private sector investors in the business forum.
