Among those who benefitted from the gifts were underprivileged young people.

It was a rare moment and privilege to most children of the Douala I Subdivision who shared in the joy of receiving gifts of stationery for the 2015-2016 school year on Saturday, September 5, 2015. The gifts were offered by Jean Roi Titti Essome Bernard, President of Akwa C Sub-section of the Youth Wing of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, YCPDM, who is also Municipal Councillor for the Douala I Council.

Some 500 nursery and primary school children benefitted from the largesse, seen by many as necessary to assist many families who are among the underprivileged of society to send their children back to school. The annual donation by Jean Roi Titti Essome Bernard is part of efforts to alleviate poverty and strengthen and improve education. It was the fifth time the donation was being made.

While handing over the gifts to the nursery and primary school children, Jean Roi Titti Essome expressed his commitment to spur education among the less privileged of his community, especially as YCPDM President. The young people were selected from each of the 11 Sub-sections of Douala I Subdivision and from associations of disabled persons.
