Civic Education Campaign:Government, Partners Fine-tune Preparations

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education met with stakeholders in Yaounde on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education will in the coming days launch an “intensified” campaign on Civic Education and National Integration. This is sequel to the recommendations of the July 2013 International Colloquium on Civic Education and National Integration.

In order to ensure a successful campaign, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Bidoung Mkpatt, on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Yaounde, held a preparatory meeting with stakeholders. He noted that indiscipline was a major stumbling block to development, insisting that for the ill to be eradicated, people needed to be sensitised on their civic responsibilities. He said the current security challenge of Boko Haram attacks called for a reawakening of national consciousness on living together.

After listening to reports from various sub-committees, the Minister gave specific instructions on what to do to ensure that the forthcoming campaign goes on smoothly. The Civic Education and National Integration campaign will take place in all regions with Governors, Senior Divisional Officers and Divisional Officers coordinating activities.
