State Honours Outgoing Turkish Ambassador

Ömer Dogan Faruk was raised to the dignity of Grand Officer of National Order of Valour during a State dinner on September 15, 2015 in Yaounde.

The out-going Turkish-Ambassador to Cameroon, Ömer Dogan Faruk, has pledged his country’s continuous support to the emergence of Cameroon which he said would even be before 2035 as seen in the determination of the people. He said his country will invest in the energy, construction, tourism, transport and logistics sectors which is a necessity for Cameroon’s emergence. His Excellency Ömer Dogan Faruk was speaking to reporters on September 15, 2015, after a farewell State dinner offered in his honour by the Head of State, Paul Biya. He was represented by the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo. Ambassador Ömer Faruk announced Turkish assistance of FCFA 550 billion for the construction of stadia, hotels and other infrastructures for the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon.

During the State dinner that took place at the Ministry of External Relations for the first time, the Turkish diplomat was raised to the dignity of the Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour. In a toast, Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo used the occasion to review the bilateral ties between both countries. According to him, Cameroon and Turkey enjoy excellent friendly and cooperation relations since 1960. In the past few years, Moukoko Mbonjo added, the relations have witnessed a tremendous improvement with exchange visits at high levels and a number of accords signed. Turkey, which is the 16th world economic power, he stated, is a development model and a source of inspiration for Cameroon’s emergence.
