UN peacekeepers are said to be involved in cases of rape and circulation of pornographic films.

The United Nations Organisation  whose Multidimensional  Integrated Stabilisation Mission (MINUSCA) has been  actively  leading the peacekeeping and maintenance  activities in the war-torn Central African Republic is determined to find out the details on scandals allegedly committed  its peacekeepers in the country and punish those found guilty.

In this connection, MINUSCA officials are currently investigating rumours of pornographic film scandal involving its peacekeeper in the town of Batangafo in the central western part of the country. Reports indicated the Mayor and Subdivisional Officer of Batangafo had already been interrogated in the course of the investigation, as well as the same officials in Kabo, located some 55 kilometres from Batangafo. In a release issued by MINUSCA, non of the officials interrogated nor local residents have been able to furnish concrete evidence on the alleged pornographic film scandal levied on the UN civilian peacekeeper.

News agency reports say that on September 12, 2015, MINUSCA was informed of the scandal of sexual exploitation involving one of its civilian staff. MINUSCA officials immediately contacted the Central African Republic authorities and Internal Control Services Office of the UN in order to investigate the accusations in compliance of the policy of zero tolerance put in place by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon concerning acts of sexual exploitation and rape.

As the investigation continues, guilty perpetrators of such acts will face the wrath of Ban Ki-moon. He said last Thursday that he will not hesitate to repatriate any UN peacekeeper found guilty of sexual scandal and on whom his  country of origin has meted out no sanctions.  He further stated that such countries would have their deployment in the MINUSCA terminated.
