A press briefing to present the humanitarian work of the organisation took place in Yaounde on October 1, 2015.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, has reaffirmed its commitment to assist victims of conflict in the Far North and East Regions of the country. The disclosure was made on Thursday October 1, 2015 in Yaounde during a press briefing at the headquarters of the organisation. Speaking at the meeting, the ICRC Head of Delegation for Africa, Simon Brooks, said the organisation reacted quickly in identifying the needs of displaced families in the Far North Region.

He said ICRC offers emergency food assistance as well as distributes crop seeds and agricultural inputs to refugee families. Added to all this are 260 stand pipes in Mayo Sanaga Division of the Far North Region where pumps need to be repaired, wells sunk and a number of health centres rehabilitated to provide displaced families with quality healthcare. The ICRC also works with detainees and runs nutrition and sanitation programmes.
