Ministry of Finance:Elung Paul Che Commissioned Minister Delegate

Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey carried out the installation ritual in Yaounde on October 6, 2015.

It took less than 30 minutes for Elung Paul Che, the new Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, to take office, sequel to the Presidential decree of October 2, 2015, reshuffling the cabinet. The Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey chaired the installation ritual in Yaounde on October 6, 2015, at a ceremony attended amongst by the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Philippe Ngole Ngwese. Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, elite, traditional rulers and wellwishers from Kupe-Muanenguba Division of the South West Region were on hand to hail the newly promoted.

The three-point event saw the reading of the Decree of the President of the Republic appointing Elung Paul Che as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance. It was then followed by the signing of documents by the outgoing and incoming Ministers Delegate, Pierre Titi and Elung Paul Che respectively. The Minister of Finance, in a speech congratulated the newly appointed on behalf of his staff. Elung Paul Che is staging a comeback to a ministry he knows so well. In the words of Alamine Ousmane Mey, having served as Director General of Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, the new Minister Delegate is expected to, in the shortest time possible, master ongoing reforms in the ministry. Alamine Ousmane Mey stressed that need to “reform public accounts, modernise the management of tax administration, customs and treasury as well as ensuring effective management of public debt, a viable and sustainable debt is primary.”

The graduate of the School of Administration and Magistracy, Yaounde, as well as the Harvard University in the United States of America, was tasked to promote team work, commitment and loyalty in his new duties. The 47-year Inspector of Treasury is coming in at a time the Ministry of Finance is implementing public finance reforms with emphasis on moderninising mangement. As such, he has been urged to show proof of remarkable managerial skills.

The former General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund (CSPH) was installed amidst cheers from friends, relatives, aides and well-wishers. Pierre Titi was commended for services rendered to the nation.
