Transport: Senegal Seeks Increased Bilateral Cooperation

Ambassador Badi Vincent met the Minister of Transport, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o on October 9, 2015.

The new Minister of Transport, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, on Friday, October 9, 2015, in Yaounde, met with the Senegalese Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Badi Vincent. Speaking to the media after the talks, Ambassador Badi said he came on a courtesy visit during which he congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment.

He said they discussed ways and means of strengthening air, maritime and land transport links between Senegal and Cameroon; with Minister Mebe Ngo’o stating his readiness to improve ties. His Excellency Badi Vincent disclosed that they resolved to put agreements between the two countries into action. He also expressed hope that trade links with Cameroon will be developed, given the enormous potentials of the two nations.

According to sources in the Ministry of Transport, transport cooperation between Cameroon and Senegal is not much for now. The two countries signed an agreement on air transport on May 30, 1973, which was revised later on October 10, 2005. In the area of maritime transport, Cameroon submitted a draft agreement for consideration by Senegal. The proposal has since been updated and is expected to be endorsed by the two sides in the near future.
