Bamenda: Centre Pasteur Annex Imminent

Centre Pasteur Cameroun General Manager, Dr. Guy Vernet, was recently in Nkwen to inspect land allocated for the purpose.

The health map of metropolitan Bamenda is expected to welcome a fresh push with the imminent construction of an annex of Cameroon’s leading bio-medical laboratory, “Centre Pasteur du Cameroun,” in the city. Centre Pasteur Cameroun General Manager, Dr. Guy Vernet and aides, were recently in the neighbourhood of Ntambang-Nkwen, in Bamenda III Subdivision to size up land offered for the project by the Nkwen community.

The land is strategic because it is in the neighbourhood of the demarcated area to host the imminent Bamenda Reference Hospital and low-cost houses as part of Cameroon’s three-year emergency development plan. The Fon of Nkwen, His Majesty Funwie Stanly Azehfor III saluted the project, which according to him, is expected to inspire infrastructural development and give youths of the kingdom a chance in employment opportunities.

Dr. Guy Vernet told Cameroon Tribune that the project was at the request of the government of Cameroon to give all 10 regions a chance to access quality laboratory services. It is all about enhancing health care. The Bamenda branch of the health facility is expected to serve the North West and West Regions, thereby saving the cost of travelling to Centre Pasteur Yaounde for clinical and bio-medical tests.

Centre Pasteur is credited for stressing quality services at affordable cost. From the look of things, the Bamenda Centre Pasteur branch is scheduled to go operational in about three years. Centre Pasteur is about 56 years old in Cameroon.
