Paris Climate Change Confab: Lake Chad Basin Experts Meet In Yaounde

The conclave kicks off today Monday November 9, 2015 to lay the groundwork ahead of Ministers meeting on Friday.

Lake Chad Basin Commission experts on issues of climate change begin meeting in Yaounde today November 9, 2015 to lay down the technical framework ahead of the Ministers meeting this Friday. The Lake Chad Basin Commission seeks to map out a blueprint ahead of the United Nation Conference on Climate Change dubbed COP 21, billed for Paris, France from November 30 to December 11, 2015.

The 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21 or CMP 11 will be the 21st yearly session of the Conference of the Parties to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 11th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The conference objective is to achieve for the first time in 20 years of UN negotiations for a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, from all the nations of the world.

Leadership of the negotiations is yet to be determined, thus the election of its President will also be a major hallmark of the event. As is usual before such major conferences, major NGOs and groups of governments draft and a wide variety of proposals they intend to seek a consensus on.
