ENAM, Fecafoot Sign Accord

The accord geared towards training footballers and officials on ethical, republican and Olympic values was signed in Yaounde yesterday.

After signing an accord with some mayors towards the posing of the green turf on certain stadiums across the country, the Cameroon football federation moved another step further yesterday by signing a convention with the National School of Magistracy and Administration, ENAM. The accord is aimed at training footballers and officials on ethical, republican and Olympic values.

Speaking during the signing ceremony yesterday at the Mont Febe hotel in Yaounde, the president of Fecafoot, Tombi A Roko said the training was warranted by the indiscipline which has been prevailing within the senior national football selection for some time. He cited the repeated failures of the Indomitable Lions at the World Cups in Spain 1982, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 as a result of indiscipline with the hallmark being the refusal of the Lions to receive the national flag during the send off match for the World Cup in Brazil. He said victory during the 2016 feminine AFCON and 2019 AFCON will come through discipline and patriotism.

The Director General of ENAM, Linus Toussaint Mendjana disclosed that idea of the convention was the brain child of the president of Fecafoot and himself saying the ambition of ENAM is to train not only the players but also the officials of Fecafoot on notions such as strategies of communication, the drawing up of a budget, auditing, accounting, administrative writing and a host of other issues. He disclosed that the lessons will be tailored according to the target group and according to the availability of the players beginning with the intermediate selection currently in camp to prepare for the upcoming African nations championship to take place in Rwanda.

Prominent among those present during the signing ceremony which was interspersed by musical interludes from the ENAM orchestra were the representatives of the Minister of Public Works, the representative of the National Olympic and Sports Committee and the mayor of Meyomessala, who was guest of honour.
