Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo defended the draft budget at the National Assembly on Monday November 30, 2015.

The Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo has said efforts to professionalise, modernise and develop university research will be pursued in 2016. He was speaking on Monday November 30, 2015 while defending the 2016 draft budget for his ministry which stands at FCFA 47, 664, 000, 000 before members of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly. The amount according to the Minister will be dedicated for the development of technological and professional component of Higher Education, modernisation and professionalization of classical faculty establishments, development of university research and innovation.

Apart from redefining curricular to adapt to the country’s development needs, Jacques Fames Ndongo also highlighted that the provision of infrastructure in State universities and the construction of laboratories will be a priority in 2016. University research, he added, will also be valorised and structured in order to give it more coherence and visibility. The operationalisation of the Pan-African University and the launching of construction works of the Cameroon-Congo inter-State University will also be a hallmark in 2016.
