The president of the African Wrestling Confederation is on inspection visit towards the hosting of the African Youth Championship in Cameroon.
The visiting president of the African wrestling Confederation, Moroccan born, Fouad Meskout on Friday December 11 paid a courtesy visit to the National Olympic and Sports Committee. Fouad Meskout disclosed the he was in Cameroon on mission sent by the World Wrestling Confederation to evaluate Cameroon’s capacity to host the African Youth championship which will take place from June 16th to 19th 2016. He said Cameroon was a great sports country with a great capacity for the development of wrestling reason why Cameron was chosen to host the African youth championship from among the many other contenders to host the competition. Her extended an invitation to the president of the Olympic Committee to Egypt in March 2016.
The president of the Olympic Committee wished a warm stay to his august visitor in Cameroon saying it was an honour for the African wrestling confederation to visit them. He said he knew Fouad Meskout a few years ago in Egypt and knows him as a man who loves sports and wrestling in particular and works to develop it. He said Cameroon and Morocco have good relations characterized by football encounters such as the qualifiers for the 1982 World Cup. He promised to continue working to maintain and improve on the already good relations saying wrestling is a popular sport in Cameroon as depicted by popular interest during the National Games known as DIXIADES in Cameroon. In a related development, the president of the Cameroon Wrestling Federation, Amougou Jacques Gabriel Serge has been appointed the communication and international relations officer of the African wrestling confederation.
