Chamber Of Commerce: 4 Billion FCFA Budget Voted For 2016

The sixth plenary session of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts, CCIMA, approved a budget of 4 billion FCFA for 2016.

Speaking at the event that held in the Douala Sawa Hotel on December 17, 2015, CCIMA’s President, Christophe Eken, said the budget will enable the Arbitration Centre that was created in 2015 to go operational in 2016.

The centre, he said, will bring harmony and understanding between companies as any misunderstanding between them will no longer be taken to court where huge sums of money are spent and relations between companies frustrated. Since cassava tubers, leaves, stems and roots are in high demand, additional cassava processing units will be set up all over the country.

Some of the achievements for the 2012/2015 tenure include the construction of a cassava processing unit in Sangmelima in the South Region, the organisation of business fora, training of SMEs and the influx of foreign investors into the country, among others. The plenary session also saw the signing of an agreement between CCIMA and the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation on the use of research findings.
