Christians of the Etoug-Ebe Baptist church, Yaounde were told to celebrate the reason of Christmas and not the event. 

As the world commemorated the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25, 2015, Christians of Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde were told to celebrate the reason why Jesus Christ came because he was born with a mission of life in abundance. It was a day to encourage Christians to take home poor people as well as wine and dine with them.

During a special Christmas service, the officiating pastor, Rev Philemon Nfor asked the congregation “Do you have life to the full”? While reading from John 10:10 which says “the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life-life in its fullness,” Rev Nfor said life to the full is in Christ. The preacher said God gives the physical and spiritual life as well as sustain and gives vitality, growth, beauty, strength, comfort and satisfaction amongst others. It was revealed in Matthew 16:26 that the whole world without Christ is life for Satan and not God.

The officiating Reverend said life to the full is opposite to death, immortal and eternally secured as the bible says in John 10:28. The congregation was also told that life in Christ is inexhaustibly refreshing, free, satisfying, victorious, true, perfect and full of peace and joy. Rev. Nfor told Christians that it was a personal choice to accept life in full which is in Christ Jesus. He stressed that the fullness of life that Christ brings is not defined just by the abundance of the physical but by the certainty of life after earthly pleasures and to have life after death, people must come to Jesus, accept that they are sinners, believe Jesus died for them, confess their sins and depend on Jesus for a daily spiritual walk.

Rev Nfor told Christians that the life God has for each person has been paid with the blood of Jesus and it is free, abundant and easy to have. As such, people should not lose the life that God gives and go to hell. Thus, people should not forget the reason why Jesus came on Christmas day, by celebrating Christmas the wrong way. Rather than drinking and eating excessively, Christians should use the season to praising and worshipping God.  Drama on the birth of Christ, choral musicians and special displays by children graced the church service.
