Bisse Bea was installed by Minister Youssouf Hadidja Alim on December 31, 2015.

The new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic Education, Bisse Bea, took office in Yaounde on December 31, 2015, following his appointment on December 22, 2015, by President Paul Biya. He was commissioned by Minister Youssouf Hadidja Alim, replacing Prof. Ivo Leke Tambo, who moves to the Ministry of Secondary Education in the same portfolio.

Youssouf Hadidja Alim urged Bisse Bea to ensure discipline and quickly familiarise himself with the ministry’s four programmes for 2016. He reminded Bisse that his role was that of coordinating the work of staff at all levels. The Minister paid glowing tribute to the stewardship of Prof. Leke, saying he was “a great Statesman with exceptional professional and human qualities” whose “academic rigour left indelible marks in the minds of staff of an unrelenting worker and an accomplished teacher with a perfect knowledge of educational issues.”

On his part, Bisse Bea described his appointment as “a consecration and recognition” by President Paul Biya for services rendered since June 1987. He promised not to fail the Head of State, pledging to contribute his quota to improve the quality of education for young children. Born on March 16, 1957 in Makak in Nyong and Kelle Division of the Centre Region, Bisse Bea holds a Bachelor’s degree in French Public Law from the University of Yaounde.

He began his career as a Technical College Teacher on June 19, 1987. He later held several positions, amongst which were Sub-Director of Organisation of Examinations and Competitive Entrance Examinations in the Ministry of Secondary Education from 2005 to 2009. Prior to his recent appointment, he was Director of Examinations and Competitive Entrance Examinations in the Ministry of Secondary Education since 2009. He is married and father of three.
