US Elections:Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton Win Iowa Primaries

The Iowa caucus elections is the kick off in the series of primaries for the Democratic and Republican aspirants.

The battle for the presidency in the United States of America to replace Barack Obama  who is finishing his second  term of office is reaching the apex ahead of presidential election in November 2016.

Aspirants for both the Republican and Democratic party nominations are burning the midnight candle in the caucus and primaries elections to first of all emerge as the flag bearers of their respective parties before the final campaigns for the race to the White House starts. The aim of this phase of the electoral process is to determine which candidates will stand for the two main parties, Democratic and Republican parties in the November 2016. BBC reports that Texas Senator Ted Cruz has won the Iowa Republican caucuses with 28 per cent of the votes, thereby beating his rival, the frontrunner Donald Trump, and Marco Rubio. Reacting to the victory, Ted Cruz said, "Iowa has sent notice that the Republican nominee and the next president of the United States will not be chosen by the media, will not be chosen by the Washington establishment.”

Still in Iowa, 99 per cent of the Democratic votes indicate that Hillary Clinton has won 50 per cent 22 delegates, closely followed by Bernie Sanders who has 50 per cent 21 delegates with Martin O’Malley  coming far behind with one per cent no delegate.
