Olympic Committee Adopts 2016 Road Map

This was during the executive committee meeting which took place on February 18? 2016.

 

The executive committee of the national Olympic and sports Committee met on February 18 and adopted the plan of action for the year 2016. Presiding at the meeting, the president of the Olympic committee colonel Kalkaba Malboum said 2016 was special to the organisation in that the year will witness the holding of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the organisation of the national games in Ebolowa.

The executive committee therefore adopted a resolution to edify the public on the accreditation process as well as prepare and equip the Cameroon Olympic team for the competition while expressing the wish to see more Cameroonian athletes qualify for the games as opposed to London 2012. To raise awareness about the competition, the executive committee also resolved to put in place a communication strategy comprising the setting up of an Olympic radio, Regional Olympic centres.

The executive committee also recommended the successful organisation of the National Games, DIXIADES in Ebolowa which will witness an increase in the number of participating disciplines from 12 to 15 notably with the inclusion of Paralympics sports disciplines.

A proposal from the Chamber of Conciliating and arbitration for their procedure to be reviewed was retained for submission to the board of directors meeting to take place on March 22nd. The general assembly will take place on May 3rd. The Olympic committee also announced the organisation of the maiden edition of the night of martial arts.

The major infrastructural projects of the Olympic committee were also reviewed notably the construction of the Olympic village in Obala. According to colonel Kalkaba, the land has already been secured with additional 100 hectares from the State will a foreign firm has been contacted to raise funds for the project. Other resolutions included the creation of an ethics committee within the CNOSC which will look into matters of ethics within sports federations and the members appointed. Some members were also co-opted to executive committee and the board of directors in replacement of some departed members of the organs.
