West Region: Sports For All Season Launched

Participants in a 30-km walk were received by Governor Awa Fonka in Bafoussam who launched the season.

The Cameroon Sports For All Federation, FECASPT, launched its season in the West Region on February 27, 2016, with a 30-km trek by over 3,000 participants from Mbouda to Bafoussam. Among the participants was the Divisional Officer for Mbouda, market women or ‘Buyam sellam,’ farmers, traders, industrialist and civil servants of all categories.

The walk was led by FECASPT National President, Talla Pascal Blaise. The athletes were welcome in Bafoussam by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine who received the federation’s symbolic flag as sign of launching the season. Talla Pascal Blaise revealed that the objective of the association is to tackle common physical, mental and intellectual prejudices caused by physical unfitness, adding that it for the this reason that the federation includes all classes of people.

Addressing the sports men and women, Governor Awa Fonka said FECASPT was just one of the world’s greatest sports disciplines like football, volleyball, handball, cricket and golf, etc, which attracts large crowds for various record-breaking reasons or trophies to be presented to athletes. According to Awa Fonka, FECASPT is a venue or forum for national integration, unity and togetherness.

FECASPT Secretary General, Bernard Souop Nguetchouesse, said their activities were aimed at ensuring the physical fitness of members. “It is difficult to achieve anything in life without physical fitness. It is for this reason that the federation comprises all classes of people,” Souop Nguetchouesse pointed out.
