This is in line with activities to mark the 2016 Women’s Day at the Ministry of Public Service.

Women at the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms yesterday March 2, 2016 organised a round table conference on the theme “Women, Career and Family Life” with the aim to edify women on how they can manage their career and families successfully.

The General Coordinator of the event, Mrs Jeanne Eba’a, said it was a platform for women in the ministry to exchange ideas on ways that can help them effectively run their homes and still be efficient at their job sites. One of the panellists, Mrs Agnes Ombolo née Messoko told women that they have to vigorously plan their time and be disciplined in a bid to properly manage their jobs and family at the same time.

According to Agnes Ombolo, having a housemaid is a necessity and women should be wise in choosing one because she is equally not just a worker but part of the family for its wellbeing. Besides drawing a good work plan for the family and professional life, women were told to create time for family members and see how they too can contribute in bringing a balance between professional and family life. Besides a personal plan of action, women were told their labour rights.

A Sub-director at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Mrs Marie Hermine Atanagana née Nanga Onguene talked on the status of the Public Service, particularly article 63 which gives each woman the right to maternity leave as well as the International Labour Code article 84, 85 and 90. The labour expert also underlined International Conventions ratified by Cameroon which talk on discrimination and rights of workers with family responsibilities. Women at the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms will also organise a fashion parade and a Miss MINFOPRA election today at ministry.
