As expected, the trial of Yves Michel Fotso, the former General Manager of the defunct national carrier, Cameroon Airlines, Camair, did not hold on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Yaounde-based Special Criminal Court, SCC.
The accused was absent as a result of ill health and his recent decision not to appear in court. The matter – the second of two trials involving him in SCC and concerning Camair – was adjourned to March 29, 2016, for prosecution witnesses to testify.
On the other hand, Michel Fotso was not represented at Thursday’s hearing by any counsel as all five of them – a French man, an American, a German and two Cameroonians, earlier pulled out of the trial, alleging unfair hearing.
Yves Michel Fotso had on February 9, 2016, written to the President of SCC, Mr Justice Yap Abdou, announcing that he will no longer appear before the court, citing alleged injustice in the proceedings.
