Officials of the Ministry were in Douala March 12, 2016, to check corruption, publication of tenders and quality of work.

Saturday, March 12, 2016, was an opportunity for public contract stakeholders in Cameroon’s industrial and commercial capital of Douala, to receive clarifications on reforms that will improve execution and instill sanity.

During a meeting with contractors in the banquet hall of the Littoral Governor’s Office, the Inspector-General for Evaluation and Performance in the Ministry of Public Contracts, Fru Jonathan, cautioned against the violation of directives by the ministry. The Inspector-General, who was on a tour of divisions in the Littoral Region, reiterated his message to stakeholders to respect new reforms as a way to improve the award of contracts, publication, execution and evaluation.

Recommended by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Public Contracts, Abba Sadou, the tour, he said, was to verify issues of corruption, reforms, publication, quality of execution and functioning of field services. “We want to ensure that work is correctly executed, our staff are present and needs are presented. Our aides were asked to ensure that all contracts are awarded by April. We discussed with contractors, they asked questions, received clarifications and made proposals that we consider serious. Such meetings will continue in order to ensure that public contracts are properly awarded, executed and evaluated,” he pointed out.
