Some 64 young talented university students are taking part in the first edition of the competition that opened in Yaounde on March 23, 2016.

The first edition of the Arts and Culture Festival, “Festival Caramel,” kicked off at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on March 23, 2016. Organised by the culture promotion house, Melhouse, under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, the competition brings together 64 students from different universities in the country.

A total of 187 candidates from 23 State and private institutions were selected for the different categories. They will compete in choreography, dance, fashion design and modelling. The first edition of “Festival Caramel,” which runs from March 23-26, 2016, will also focus on the promotion of works of art, production on site and training, among others.

The objective of the festival is to promote talents among youths in general and those of universities, institutions of higher learning and related institutions in particular, in order to guide them towards professionalism. The Festival Caramel is organised in collaboration with the African Institute of Computer Sciences (IAI-Cameroon) and the Confucius Institute of Cameroon.
