CPDM 31st Anniversary:Supporters Renew Commitment To National Chairman

A dinner spiced with cultural display was organised by the Central Committee at the party’s headquarters in Yaounde on March 24, 2016 to crown the celebrations.

As the evening breeze blew across the hilltop Yaounde Conference Centre, colours of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) carried by students of the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) who adorned both sides of the stairway into the lobby of the Congress Centre waved in the same direction as the guest of the Central Committee made their way in. The lobby’s decor was telling of the magnitude of the anniversary. The arrival of the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuete accompanied by the President of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji, Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, and the Minister Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh amidst beats of drums from dance groups and the CPDM jazz band signalled the beginning of feasting to crown celebrations marking the 31st anniversary of the ruling CPDM party on March 24, 2016.

Addressing attendees of the dinner who included CPDM Political Bureau and Central Committee members, present and former members of government, Members of Parliament and grassroots supporters, the Secretary General expressed joy for the massive mobilisation for the event. Jean Nkuete stressed the need for total mobilisation behind the National Chairman and Head of State, Paul Biya for the acceleration of economic growth and the fight against the Boko Haram extremist group as prescribed by this year’s celebration theme. He urged supporters to stay focused and steadfast behind the National President, Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in order for him to accomplish his Three Emergency Plan aimed at accelerating growth and the complete eradication of the terrorist group, Boko Haram. The event that ended with heavy dinning and winning was spiced by musical interludes as artists sang “Happy Anniversary to the CPDM”.
