China-Cameroon:Relations Celebrated In Music

The 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Cameroon and China was celebrated on Saturday March, 26, 2016.

Chinese traditional music was once more on display at the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde on Saturday, March 26, 2016. The performance of the Song and Dance Troupes from Liaoning, China, was sponsored by the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Cameroon as part of celebrations to mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Cameroon and China.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua, said cooperation between Cameroon and China has expanded in diverse domains in the past 45 years and that the two countries were good partners. The audience watched with passion young Chinese artistes display talents in typical traditional Chinese instruments such as the Yangin, Bamboo Flute, Zhongruan, Pipa and the Erhu.

The audience was held spellbound by the group led by Liu Sheng, player of the Erhu of the traditional orchestra of Liaoning, member of the Association of Musicians of Liaoning and the Association of the Traditional Orchestra of Liaoning. The audience was thrilled when the Chinese artistes played the song, “Liberté” by Cameroon’s Anne Marie Ndzie with Chinese traditional instruments.

The other troupes that thrilled the audience included Zhao Jinyang of the National Troupe of Songs and Dance of Liaoning, Zhao Na, Jiayin and Liu Lei. The different works presented included the “Grand Bonheur”, a folklore, which describes a festive and happy atmosphere and “Song of fishermen at dusk,” which depicts fishermen returning from an expedition at sunset. “Chant de Zizhu,” recounts a beautiful love story, “Fleurs Jasmin”, which occupies an important place in Chinese folkloric and is largely played abroad, and “Souvenir du Yunnan Chapitre III.”

The song recounts the childhood souvenirs of Yunnan, a picturesque and mysterious province in the South West of China and “Belle fleurs, pleine lune,” a song to end the evening in the best atmosphere, among others. Present at the Chinese traditional musical concert was the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, members of the diplomatic corps, dignitaries from international organisations and other guests.
