Next Presidential Election:CPDM Senators Endorse Paul Biya

The call for President Biya to present his candidacy in the forthcoming election was made on March 29, 2016 in Yaounde by the CPDM Parliamentary Group at the Senate.

Members of the CPDM Parliamentary Group at the Senate have exhorted their party Chairman and Head of State, President Paul Biya, to run for the next presidential election. The Senators of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), led by their Group President, Senator Peter Mafany Musonge, met yesterday March 29, 2016 in Yaounde on the sidelines of the current 1st Ordinary Session of Parliament for 2016, to add their voice to the ongoing calls for President Paul Biya to stand re-election.

In a motion of support issued by the CPDM Senators calling on the President of the Republic to seek another term of office, the law-makers hailed Paul Biya for his efficient management of State affairs, determination to preserve national integration and peace, which are prerequisites for national development. They also commended his resolve to exterminate the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, to propel Cameroon to emergence by 2035 as well as numerous diplomatic victories, amongst others. Prior to the reading of the motion of support, Senators Nicole Okalia and Charles Mbella Moki took time to highlight the relevance of another mandate for the CPDM party Chairman. Both outlined achievements of President Paul Biya in different sectors and spheres of national life.

These achievements, the CPDM Parliamentary Group Chief Whip in the Senate, Peter Mafany Musonge, believe must be upheld by maintaining the man who has contributed enormously to trace the path until now. “It is a very crucial point because it concerns the future of our country. We want to continue to enjoy peace, stability and security. We want to achieve economic prosperity, development and preserve our achievements”, he outlined during a meeting also attended by some members of the Central Committee of the CPDM, led by one of the Assistant Secretaries General, Hamadjoda Adjoudji.

CPDM Senators also pledged to continue contributing financially towards war efforts by supporting vigilante groups and victims of terrorist attacks in the Far North, East and Adamawa Regions.
