It will open up 1,000 hectares  of farm land towards  the resettlement of people eager to invest in agriculture but hindered  by lack of basic infrastructure and support in the Mbaw Mbonso basin and 1,000 more hectares in Gayama which lacks an access  road to the over 7,000 hectares of arable land and support for activities.

The project will see the construction of adapted warehouses that reduces post harvest loss, setting up of efficient processing facilities, construction of accessible sales point, provision of high yielding improved seeds/seedlings of targeted crop speculation, mechanization of production etc. The 1st Assistant SDO of Donga Mantung said the Mbaw/Mbonso projects will cost about FCFA 8 billion while records about Gayama basin reveal that their projects will cost about FCFA 3.9 billion.

The Mbaw Mbonso and Gayama basins are part of the overall four production areas covered by phase II of the Grassfield Support Project for Rural Infrastructure and Participatory Development.
