Intensive Diplomatic Activities At MINREX

Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella yesterday held talks with four separate diplomatic delegations in Yaounde.

Monday April 4, 2016 was a busy day at the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) as the Minister; Lejeune Mbella Mbella received four diplomatic delegations. The first to be received was the Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, Kunio Okamura, who discussed about preparations for the upcoming Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) to be held in Nairobi, Kenya. The Japanese diplomat stated that Cameroon’s support is needed for the August get-together. Both men also revisited the recently announced 12.3 million dollar (about FCFA 7 billion) Japan’s support to refugee relief efforts in the Far North Region.

On the heels of the Japanese diplomat, was a delegation of the African Group of diplomats led by the Ambassador of the Central African Republic (CAR), Beti Marace. The delegation reviewed current national and regional issues with Minister Mbella Mbella. The Central African Ambassador used the opportunity to express gratitude to Cameroon for the support accorded his country during the crisis that rocked the country. He said the FCFA 1 billion that Cameroon offered to CAR enabled the country to organise the second round of elections which laid to rest the prolonged instability in that country.

The European Union Delegation leader to Cameroon, Francoise Collet also led a delegation of some five diplomats from the UN Security Council member countries to MINREX. During their discussion with the Minister of External Relations, they reviewed current national and international issues.
