A parliamentary network “Esperance Jeunesse” of “Honourables” was received in audience by the Minister of Youth Affairs last Friday, April 9, 2016.

A network of parliamentarians interested in ensuring that youths are involved in agricultural and fishery activities was received in audience by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, (MINJEC), Mounouna Foutsou last Friday April 8, 2016.

During discussions, the Coordinator of the network, Honourable Gaston Komba said they are at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education not only because they have same objectives with the ministry as far as youths are concerned in the country but also because they want to accompany the ministry in ensuring that youths become autonomous particularly in the agricultural sector.

MINJEC boss, Mounouna Foutsou said major challenges in the world today are that faced by youths. While noting that the Ministry of Youth Affairs has as major tasks; the socio-economic insertion of youths and civic education of Cameroonians, particularly youths, Mounouna Foutsou lamented that today’s youth are not informed of what is happening around them especially projects geared towards their wellbeing.

As such, the ministry hopes to develop concepts with the network of parliamentarian’s so as to develop concepts that will attract youths and make them to be interested in agricultural and other developmental projects.

The network of parliamentarians started their agricultural activities in 2014 in Obala in the Centre Region where many young Cameroonians participated in an Agro-pastoral caravan. Another member of the network, Roland Pangmashi said “the network wants to work with the ministry in changing the mindset of youths in Cameroon.”
