Damas, Yaound:Suspected Serial Rapist Teacher Arrested

Emile Sone Ngole, a former Class Six teacher, who, is accused of repeatedly abusing the pupils he taught, was rescued by police after being caught in the act.

Inhabitants of Nsimeyong III Damas, Yaounde, are in a state of shock following an incident that occurred in the area last weekend. Emile Sone Ngole, 28, a former Class Six teacher with the Beryla Bilingual School Complex, Nsimeyong III Damas MAETUR, is alleged to have raped eight pupils. According to the reports, Emile Sone Ngole, also taught eight pupils in his home. It is there that he succeeded in raping two one seven-year-old pupils and the other, 11. He is alleged to have raped a seven year-old pupil twice and the 11-year-old, seven times.

At Beryla Bilingual School Complex on Friday, April 15, 2016, more than half of the school population was absent. Some parents were seen outside the gate in small groups, wondering what must have prompted Emile Sone Ngole to act in such a way. Some of the parents vowed not to send their children to the school until the situation had calmed down. Emile Sone Ngole was allegedly caught in the act on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in his home in Damas, by some neighbours. He was severely beaten up by an angry crowd, but was rescued thanks by men of the Seventh Police Station in Efoulan. After interrogation, he admitted guilt, saying he has been raping little girls for 20 years now. Some sources suggest that Emile Sone Ngole is HIV-positive. However, a medical report on his health was yet to prove the allegation.

Meanwhile, at the Efoulan Police Station on Friday, April 15, 2016, Cameroon Tribune’s reporters met a police returning with a bloodied Emile Sone Ngole from the nearby hospital where they took him for treatment after surviving the mob attack. Police sources say though Sone claims to be 28, he might at least be 40 years old. The Headmistress of Beryla Bilingual School Complex, Angèle Tematio, told reporters that Emile Sone Ngole was no longer a staff of the school since April 4, 2016. She said on April 4, Emile Sone was discourteous to the father of a pupil, Karl Loïc. The same day, another parent, the father of Ngono Akame Adriana, complained that Emile Ngole kissed his daughter on the cheek. The following day, the board of the school sat and decided to dismiss Emile Sone.

After the board meeting, a complaint was sent to the Gendarmerie ‘Brigade’ in Efoulan. She said she personally called the parents of the eight children who attend private classes in Emile’s home and told them not to send their children there anymore. She added that she had earlier announced to parents at the beginning of the term not send their children to the homes of teachers for private classes, especially male teachers; and that there were free private classes in school.

Angèle Tematio said medical reports from the hospital showed that six of the raped children were still virgins, but two other reports were still pending as at Friday, April 15, 2016. Another source said medical tests showed that two girls had been effectively penetrated and their hymen destroyed. The Headmistress called on parents to continue to have confidence in the school because it is there to ensure the security of children and has also performed well in past certificate examinations.
