The competition placed under the sign of maturity will witness three major innovations.

The fifth edition of the Aneva Sports Dance will take place this weekend in Yaounde with a record number of participations expected. Over 250 dancers from about 50 companies, ministerial departments and councils will be taking part in the competition dubbed ‘Challenge des AS Aneva Dance sport’ which will take place at the Yaounde Sports complex on Sunday April 24, 2016. According to the president of the association, Maurice Pokam, the competition this year will be placed under the sign of maturity given that it’s been five years since the activity was initiated. He announced that there will be three major innovations this year. Firstly the number of dance disciplines has risen from 12 to 14 with a consequent increase in the number of trophies and medals to be awarded. There will be fifteen trophies and 130 medals up for play.

Secondly, he said there will be a module dance which is a combination of five different dances in addition to the normal disciplines namely; rock, salsa, lambada, jive, samba, cha cha cha, quick step, fox trot, tango, boll and bottle dance. Thirdly, participation certificates will be awarded to all the participants. Maurice Pokam said it is important for companies and ministerial departments to be interested in sports dance as it contributes in the good mental and physical condition of worker; as the saying, a healthy body in a healthy mind.

The competition was won last year by team from the Ministry of environment and Nature Protection and witnessed the participation of structures such as Ngaoundere urban council, SONARA, Douala Port, Camwater, and Dschang council.

The competition is organized in collaboration with the Cameroon Dance sport federation and will be taking place on the theme:  “sports the base of living together in Cameroon”. On the eve of the event there will be the registration of athletes as well as the distribution of competition numbers coupled with anti doping tests.
