Obala: Police Arrest Suspected Priest Robbers

Rev. Father Manga Vitus was attacked after midnight near Efok as he was riding to Obala from Sa’a.

Police in Obala in Lékié Division of the Centre Region have recorded another victory against miscreants. Rev. Father Manga Vitus, a Catholic priest based in Sa’a in Lékié Division of the Centre Region, was the latest victim of armed robbers in the area.

According to the Commissioner of the Obala Public Security Police Station, Superintendent of Police Nkfurkwi Emmanuel, the priest was attacked between midnight and 1 am on April 23, 2016, as he was riding on his motorbike from Sa’a to Obala. The incident took place in Obemakan Grand Carrefour, near Nkolzouma in Efok area. Four armed men seized the motorbike and the priest’s bag containing mass accessories. He also lost between 50,000 FCFA and 100,000 FCFA to the hoodlums.

Informed, Commissioner Nkfurkwi and his men immediately swung into action. Following a tipoff early in the morning of April 23, 2016, they stormed the home of Mvogo Okala Ambrace in Obala, arresting him and recovering the motorcycle. On interrogation, Mvogo divulged the names of those who sold the bike to him. Pretending to be speaking for Mvogo, police detectives called the two suspects to come and collect money for the bike they had sold.

Nkoussa Luc Bienvenu and Ngono Ndzodo were picked up as soon as they arrived. The three arrested armed robbery suspects are due to be handed over to the State Counsel on April 25, 2016. Meanwhile, investigations into the matter are continuing. Only recently, another motorbike was stolen from a Catholic church opposite the Obala Public Security Police Station, Commissioner Nkfurkwi told Cameroon Tribune.
