Crystal Palace President At Minsep

Philip Alexander was invited by Fecafoot to explore ways of assisting the country in youth football development.

The chairman of Crystal Palace football club, Philip J. Alexander, was on Wednesday April 27th, received in audience by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education. The visiting Crystal Palace chairman who was in Cameroon at the invitation of the Fecafoot president, said though his club hasn’t big names, they play excellent football and the proof of it is that Crystal Palace will be playing the final of the FA cup on May 21st.

He said his club will assist Fecafoot which has the intention of creation a football academy in Odza-Yaounde in grooming young talents between the ages of 13 and 19 notably through the provision of equipment and the necessary technical staff so as to enable Cameroon continue to shine internationally.

Minister Bidoung Mkpatt lauded the initiative saying Crystal Palace is the first European club to undertake such an initiative saying by the gesture, Crystal Palace has won the hearts of Cameroonians as they will henceforth support the English club side beginning with the FA Cup finals. He urged Fecafoot and Crystal Palace to make the partnership permanent.

Prior to the audience with the minister, Philip Alexander who is accompanied by his assistant Aisha Houghton was received by technical and administrative staff of Fecafoot. The later on paid a visit to the Fecafoot technical centre in Odza where the president of Fecafoot, Tombi à Roko Sidiki, presented the projects in store for the centre and they later on formally signed the partnership agreement.
