Celebrating The Promised Spirit Of God

Worshippers of Faith Baptist Church, Anguissa, Yaounde, on May 15, 2016, celebrated Pentecost.

May 15, 2016, was celebrated the world over as Pentecost Sunday, the day Christians remember the visitation of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, Israel, after His ascent to heaven in the full glare of his followers.

Preaching from Acts 1:1-8 on the topic, “The Promise Of The Holy Spirit,” Rev. Dr. Rudolf Banglis, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Anguissa, Yaounde, said Pentecost was about feasting with the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ promise to His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they had received the empowerment of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled at Pentecost, he recalled. “The Christian life is a supernatural, extraordinary life backed by the power of the Holy Spirit,” Rev. Dr. Banglis noted. Such power changes and transforms lives, taking believers from nothing to somewhere well beyond their dreams, the pastor added.

The word of God must always go along with the Spirit of God, without which no one do anything for God, he warned. “When Jesus was crucified, the hope of His disciples died, and when He resurrected, their hope also resurrected,” the man of God explained. The Holy Spirit was given for the purpose of mission – to establish the Kingdom of God in the hearts of men, Rev. Dr. Rudolf Banglis emphasised. After prophesying to the lives of worshippers, the pastor concluded his sermon by intoning, “I give myself away,” by William McDowell.
