Biya, Buhari Praised For Visionary Leadership

The outgoing Nigerian High Commissioner to Cameroon paid a farewell visit to the Prime Minister on May 19, 2016.

Outgoing Nigerian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Her Excellency, Hadiza Mustapha has paid tribute to Presidents Paul Biya of the Republic of Cameroon and Muhammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for their wise and visionary leadership and whose “signals” made her work very easy. “They were signals of people who are very keen on establishing peaceful and progressive relationship,” she declared to the press after a courtesy farewell visit on May 19, 2016 to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang.

Best amongst her souvenirs while serving for two years in Cameroon, H.E. Hadiza Mustapha mentioned President Biya’s State visit to Nigeria which she had hoped would reawaken and change the dialogue and narrative between both countries. “I was happy to see that the visit left Nigerians taking interest in Cameroon as our neighbor and our friend,” she also said.

Besides the revival of the Nigeria-Cameroon Joint Commission and signing of at least 16 cooperation agreements, she was also pleased by the attention given by Cameroonian authorities in solving several immigration issues concerning the Nigerian community in Cameroon which she brought to their attention. While commending successful and decisive joint military operations against Boko Haram she hoped that several upcoming events such as the completion of the Enugu-Bamenda road and a planned Business Forum will further strengthen ties between both countries.

Prime Minister Philemon Yang’s second guest for the day was the visiting Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyu. Besides presiding over the commissioning of the International Handicraft Centre in Yaounde, he said he was in Cameroon to express solidarity with government and ensure that the future of development is formally anchored on growing entrepreneurship amongst the vulnerable and women.
