44th National Day: Higher Institutions Ready For Thrilling Performance

The march-past rehearsal of institutions of higher learning in Yaounde took place yesterday under the supervision of two cabinet ministers.

Not even the heavy downpour in the nation’s capital yesterday May 16, 2016, could dampen the enthusiasm of students of institutions of higher learning and professional schools who converged on the University of Yaounde Concord stadium for march-past rehearsals. The Ministers of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou and Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo supervised the march-past practice that brought together over a dozen of institutions.

The students defiled the rain in a show of patriotism to rehearse their marching steps as they prepare for a thrilling performance on May 20. The institutions are ready for serious business as could be seen in their marching steps which did not leave the two ministers and the Rector of the University of Yaounde I indifferent as they kept applauding. The National Institute of Youth and Sports, Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) and the University of Yaounde I showcased spectacular marching steps which will be improved upon before the D-day. Majorettes groups presented by some institutions are also leaving no stone unturned for a wonderful performance.

Ministers Mounouna Foutsou and Jacques Fame Ndongo pointed out a few corrections at the end of the rehearsal exercise. Youth and Civic Education Minister urged the students to adopt a unique style and rhythm as well as respect line-spacing. Prof Fame Ndongo reminded them that they will be marching in the presence of the Head of State on May 20, thus seriousness and solemnity should be their watchword.
