Bamenda: Impressive And Hitch-free Celebration

Defence Forces and civilian population in solidarity with the nation.

Fair weather and a beautiful decor set the pace for hitch-free celebrations of the 44th National day in Bamenda. It all started with the arrival of North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique at the Commercial Avenue Ceremonial ground where the military and civilian population waited to showcase best practices in March-past skills.

A detachment of the Military Band from Yaounde was available for animation while Colonel Ebo Etoua Dieudonne commanded the troops that later excelled in discipline and agility   as they marched past. The difference, perhaps; was the display of new weapons in their stated preparedness to rise to expectation in the face of any insecurity threats. It was a rare moment for the population to cheer Defence forces at their best. It was also a moment to stand by the Forces that are combating terrorism threats in the Far North region of the country.

It was most evident when a mascot was displayed, as a mobilising factor between the population and Defence Forces to unite for peace and territorial integrity to reign in Cameroon. The mascot kick- started the civilian march- past that also featured giant flags and banners. The civilian march-past featured some 348 primary and secondary, professional, vocational and institutions of higher learning, youth groups and political parties. Not even heavy rains midway into the event jeopardized what had been planned and rehearsed to be a success story.
