Zero tolerance for carefree attitude to work has been issued as directive to recently appointed Regional Delegates in the North West. The order came on the heels of a massive overhaul of services, with 11 new Regional Delegates commissioned to enhance governance. The recent appointments were saluted for the caliber, gender cognizance and youthfulness of the officials.
North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, challenged them to rise to expectation, follow up sectoral roadmaps, instill probity in the management of human and material resources and check the harassment of service users. The Permanent Secretary in the Bamenda City Council, Waindim Jude, requested the re-examination of the quality of collaboration between regional technical services, for the progress of the region. Among those commissioned was 52-year-old Wilfred Wambeng Ndong, in charge of Basic Education. He was challenged to fight corruption and check the proliferation of clandestine schools.
Ngong Christopher Diang, 53, a Tropical Agricultural Engineer, is expected to set records straight in the agricultural sector. His brilliant career spans over 28 years. Governor Lele Lafrique urged him to give agriculture and rural development an extra push. Staring him in the face is the challenge to ensure that the Santa Equipment Pool becomes an effective instrument for the promotion of second generation agriculture. Ngong Christopher’s experience in the fertilizer sub-sector is expected to help promote agriculture and rural development as cornerstones for the emergence of the region.
The new Delegate for Tourism, Tabufor Akwa Asanga, is expected to promote tourism, leisure and tourist sites with security measures that inspire hope. Dr Manjo Fon Matilda, the new Delegate of Public Health, has as mission the enhancement of healthcare, prevention of illegal medical practice and illegal sale of drugs. She showcases enough experience and expertise to instill ethical practices in the sector.
The new boss for Environment and Nature Protection, Moma Henry, was charged to fight bush fires and the illegal use of plastics. Other Regional Delegates commissioned at the event included Ndondjeng Antoine for Water Resources and Energy, Martin Onongfong Ojong, the new Paymaster General, the new Finance Controller, Wirndzerem Gideon Barfee, etc.
