Cameroon-Czech Republic: Joint Efforts To Conserve Environment

Issues of environmental conservation and strengthening economic ties came under discussion yesterday in Yaounde between Minister Dion Ngute and Ambassador Pavel Mikes.

The Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute has held talks with the Czech Republic Ambassador to Cameroon, Pavel Mikes and the Director of the Prague Zoological Garden, Miroslav Bobek. The audience that took place yesterday June 13, 2016 in Yaounde, according to Ambassador Pavel, focused on strengthening bilateral economic, political, security and environmental protection.

He said Cameroon is a strategic partner of Czech Republic especially now that the country’s economy is stronger, diversified and most stable in the sub region. Trade links between Cameroon and Czech Republic, he added, are positive for Cameroon as she exports more to his country. Monday’s audience was also witnessed by the visiting Director of Prague Zoological Garden, Miroslav Bobek, whose institution is currently carrying out a project dubbed “Bus Ambulant”, in the forest zone of Cameroon.

The project, according to the Prague Zoo Director, is for the protection of nature, the environment and animals in Cameroon. It entails transporting school children in the tropical forest zone to animal protection centres in Mfou and Limbe. The objective, he added, is for them to see the gorillas and other primates alive and recount the beauty of nature. During the visits, the children are also entreated to educative talks where they learn the importance of protecting the gorillas and other animals rather than see the animals as meat.
