Lycée d’Akwa: 146 Prizes Awarded To Outstanding Students

The most polite, disciplined and neatest students also received prizes.

Nothing is more pleasing to teachers and parents than students producing good results at the end of the day. Prize-award days, which are important events in most government and private schools, are often celebrated at the end of the school year. Some 2,900 students, hundreds of parents and scores of teachers attended the Lycée d’Akwa, Douala, prize-award ceremony chaired by the Divisional Officer for Douala I in collaboration with the Secondary Education Delegate for Littoral.

A Form Two student, Voudanson Mirkandi, emerged best overall for the 2015/2016 academic year and the best in the first cycle with a score of 17.31 on 20; while the best in the second cycle, Ulrich Mpoli Monthe, scored 14.57 on 20. Prizes were also given to two best students in each class and students who scored highest in each subject. The most polite, disciplined and neatest students also received prizes; while the best teacher, support staff and administrative staff were equally rewarded for hard work and outstanding performance.

The Principal of Lycée d’Akwa, Aderonke Mouyinotou, disclosed that the results were better than those of last academic year. She congratulated students who grabbed prizes, discouraged mediocrity and challenged weak students to make the school and their parents proud by working harder in order to be rewarded next year. Lucien Tekam of the Wouri III CPDM Section explained that they have been giving prizes to outstanding teachers because there was no intelligent student without a teacher.
