Centre Region Empowered On AIDS Management

The closing ceremony of the SIAPS technical assistance project took place in Mbalmayo in the Nyong and So’o Division on July 20, 2016.

Prior to the arrival of Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceutical Services (SIAPS) in the Centre Region four years ago, the region was in a situation where there was a scarcity of Anti Retroviral Drugs in most health facilities. This was not because the drugs were not available in the country but because they were poorly managed. It is in this light that official closing ceremony of the SIAPS technical assistance to the Centre Regional Delegation of Public Health took place in Mbalmayo in the Nyong and So’o Division on July 20, 2016.

Speaking at the occasion, the Country Project Director, Dr. Belen Tarrafeta said the SIAPS project has been implementing activities at the central level and also at the regional level and the Centre Region has been one of the target regions for SIAPS.

The project aims at assuring the availability of quality pharmaceutical products and effective pharmaceutical services to achieve desired health outcomes. The workshop brought together representatives of HIV/AIDS treatment centres in the centre region. Attestations were equally awarded to participants at the end of the ceremony.

Present in Cameroon since 2012, SIAPS has provided technical assistance to achieve its aims as well as the government’s by actively supporting the pharmaceutical systems of HIV/AIDS commodities in the South West, North West, Littoral and Centre Regions.
