This was the major outcome of the CAF inspection visit to hotels to accommodate delegates for the tournament in Yaounde.

It goes without saying that Cameroon was ready to host the 2016 AFCON in terms of accommodation even before they won the bid to host the competition given the panoply of hotels in the country and their class. This was the realisation yesterday following the inspection of hotels in the capital city to host delegates for the competition by CAF.

The inspection visit took them to Hotel La Falaise, Djeuga Palace, Mont Febe and Hilton hotels in that order as the officials tried to assess the capacity of the hotels to host CAF officials and the players. They also checked the internet facilities insisting on high speed services.

On each lap of the tour, the inspectors looked at things the quality and capacity of the rooms, restaurants, conference halls, and fitness centres like gymnasiums and sauna, parking space, massaging and other facilities which make for the comfort and quick recovery of the players. At the La Falaise hotel which is meant to host a team, the CAF inspectors recommended that some of the rooms with single beds should be transformed to single rooms with double beds to meet up with CAF recommendation of two players per room but on different beds.

The same recommendation was made at the Djeuga Palace with another suggestion to transform part of the some conference halls to restaurants so as to accommodate the large sports delegations that usually comprise 23 players and technical staff of the team. The inspectors were particularly impressed by the location and facilities of the Mont Febe hotel also retained to host a team.

The visit to the Hilton hotel which is scheduled to host CAF officials was a mere formality as the CAF delegation has been residing in the hotel since their arrival in Cameroon. However, the inspectors exercised the same rigour as with the other hotels, seeking clarification where necessary and making suggestions on how to best suit their interest.

Later in the evening, the CAF inspectors had a working session at the Yaounde Sports Complex which will host the directorate of the competition, with members of the logistics commission, transportation, NTIC as well as examined issues related to TV production and communication in general.
