Senior Colonel Yang Xu was decorated exceptionally with the medal of Knight of the National Order of Valour by Minister Joseph Beti Assomo on August 2, 2016 in Yaounde.

Sino-Cameroon relations on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, leaped to another level following the exceptional decoration of the Military Attaché in the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde. Senior Colonel Yang Xu was raised to the grade of Knight of the Cameroon National Order of Valour by the Head of State.

The State distinction was affixed on the officer of the Chinese Military Cooperation by the Minister Delegate in the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, on behalf of the President of the Republic in a solemn ceremony attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua and top brass of the Cameroonian Defence Forces. 

While saluting excellent Sino-Cameroon cooperation, especially in the military domain, the Minister Delegate in charge of Defence, lauded the recipient for his pivotal role in placing Cameroonian military personnel in some training institutions in China. Beti Assomo also appreciated Colonel Yang Xu’s role in assisting Cameroon acquire military equipment currently being used in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua, also hailed the excellent cooperation between both countries and expressed his country’s gratitude to President Paul Biya for sparing no efforts in strengthening Sino-Cameroon cooperation. The laureate, Senior Colonel Yang Xu, who has come to the end of his three-year stay in Cameroon, spoke of his joy and appreciation to Cameroon for the honour accorded him.
