A seminar organised by the National Anti Corruption Commission took place on August 3, 2016 in Yaounde.

Anti-corruption units in ministries and public establishments in Cameroon have upgraded skills of reporting corruption. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC), August 3, 2016 in Yaounde, organised a workshop for heads of anti corruption units in different ministries and public establishments.  

Opening the workshop, the Chairman of CONAC, Rev. Dr. Dieudonne Massi Gams noted that the training will pave the way for the writing and production of qualitative annual activities reports in the fight against corruption. Rev Massi Gams said the 2014 annual report on the state of corruption produced by CONAC did not have reports of some ministerial anti-corruption units. Yesterday’s training was therefore important to stimulate and better guide them in reporting.

The anti-corruption units which he described as partners play a vital role in the fight against the cankerworm reminding them that CONAC’s annual report does not only limit to its activities but also those of  other structures. He stated that the fight against corruption is not exclusive to CONAC alone, recalling that the decree creating the institution spells out its mission which includes amongst others the follow-up and evaluation of government plan in the fight against corruption.

The objectives of the workshop, he added, was thus to reinforce collaboration between CONAC and the ministerial anti corruption units and adopt a template for annual reporting of activities.

The series of trainings and activities such as the Rapid Results Initiative by CONAC implemented by the anti corruption units, Rev. Dr. Massi Gams stated will culminate to the drawing up of a National Anti-corruption Plan. Participants were drilled on corruption perception index, the role of anti corruption units amongst others issues.
