The first Community Leadership seminar took place on July 28, 2016 in Yaounde.

The first Community Leadership seminar organized by the Center for Excellence in Leadership and Transformational Development in partnership with the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy, CABTAL, has ended in Yaounde. “Community leaders spent three days interacting with one another, learning from one another about how we can preserve our culture and train our people to learn our languages,” said Walters Efi Tembon, the Director General of CABTAL.

Dr Colonel Hans Anagho, the Fon of Ngwo in Momo Division of the North West Region, expressed his joy:  “I am grateful to CABTAL because they have helped me to learn the Ngwo alphabet, my mother tongue. We have translated about four books into the New Testament and as we are working with them. We hope that the next step will be to get our children speak and write their mother tongue,” the Fon said.

CABTAL is a movement of churches and communities whose goal is to help communities receive development information in health, agriculture and human rights. With the faithful support of partners in communities, churches in Cameroon and across the world, CABTAL has been able to bring hope, lasting change and impact to many communities in Cameroon over the last years.

It is in this light that traditional rulers and religious leaders underwent a three-day training to develop a forum where community leaders from various ethnic groups across the country could learn from each other and develop best practices for community leadership. The ceremony ended joyfully with the handing over of attestations to participants.
